Sunshine and Yellow make me Happy

It is a beautiful day today. I love seeing the sunshine. I need to see the sunshine. I am so ready for spring. I love the anticipation of flowers blooming and new buds bursting forth from the trees as they appear dead but are only sleeping. New life emerges. The birds start tweeting and pitter patting around. It makes me happy just thinking about it. I am looking forward to spring, being outside with the Man of my Dreams (aka MOMD)! There is a creek that runs along the back of the subdivision where I live and on pleasant days we walk back there with a fishing pole, some drinks, snacks, the dog, Emma, whom you met yesterday, and sometimes I bring a book along in case the fish aren't biting my line. It almost feels like we are the only people for miles. When the water is low we can climb out into the middle of the creek to fish while standing on some large bolders. When the water is up I can sit on a fallen tree and listen to the water trickle by through a dammed up area where leaves collect. It makes for a great Day! It's even better when the fish are biting. We always throw them back but it is so exciting when they tug on that line! It makes me happy

to walk to the creek with the MOMD!
It doesn't snow very much here so when it does the world comes to a screeching halt and we head outside to see the small flakes fall and maybe even cover the ground. The peaceful sound the snow makes when it falls is very pleasant and it makes me happy. The MOMD and I walked our trail to see the creek a few weeks ago when it snowed. It was like we were the only people on earth and God blessed us with a beautiful sight just for our pleasure. I don't care for the cold but on occasion when we do get a little snow and it sticks it makes me happy. The people who live north of Alabama will laugh out loud when I say we had snow. It was maybe 1/2" but it was beautiful and it made me happy. The very next week it was 60 degrees outside and sunny but we have the memories of the snow and a few pictures to remind us of the day!
Another thing that makes me happy is my painting of a yellow rose. When it is dreary and cloudy and otherwise yucky outside I can sit in my chair and glance at my painting and smile. I think about how beautiful the rose is when the light shines on it, just so, from the lamp below. I remember that I painted that and how happy I was when I finished it and it was beautiful. It also reminds me that even though today is yucky the sun will come out tomorrow and I will smile and be happy! Spring is just around the corner. What makes you happy? The world and I want to know.

My First Day!

I am new to blogging and am really excited to get started.  I hope to make lots of friends here. I have several friends who want me to share recipes and tips on decorating and updates on my life.  I figure this is the best way to accomplish that in the easiest way possible. And maybe make a few new friends along the way!
I recently lost my job and have been looking for work a while with no luck. So... I am productively using this down time to start a business.  I am constantly making things and decided that selling some of the things I make could possibly even begin a new career.  So... saying all that, today is the first day of my new "Arty" life! I am learning as I go so there may be some boring things,  tho...not much is boring around here.  I want to introduce you to a few of the animals that run things around here.  Today you will meet Emma.  She is a rescued Spitz that I brought home one day from the Dollar General.  I was recently divorced and there was this cute ball of white fluff who needed a home and I decided she needed my home.
She is very precocious.  She is bossy and grumpy and a take charge kind of gal.  She actually runs things around here.  She  looks so innocent but she has bitten many a hide!  Including a police officer who was looking for an escape prisoner.  He was nice about it but she put a hole in his new pants!  Needless to say I feel very secure with Emma standing guard.  She doesn't let many people into our humble abode.  She needs to taste many of them first.  Mostly she rejects teenage boys!!!!  She bites most of them at first sniff.
She has the fluffiest coat that I have to keep trimmed or it will completely take over the house.  She is a snow dog but she hates cold weather.  Luckily in Alabama we don't get much snow.  Good thing for her.  She only goes out if she is in desperate need of melting snow, if you know what I mean!  If she likes you she is your friend for life.  She is polite when she begs, she waits patiently, with soulful eyes that never leave your plate.  She is content with the little scraps left on a plate.  I don't know why I have to do so many dishes, she gets the plate spotless.  My family just doesn't like her brand of dish washing "soap".  We call her the Queen because she is in total charge.  It is a Monarchy of vast proportions.  She is actually just the Queen of my Heart!
